The Yonago Gaina Festival Grand Fireworks is the major finale of the Yonago Gaina Festival, a summer tradition in Yonago, Tottori Prefecture. For 2026, calls from residents to hold the event, together with corporate donations and sponsorship, led to a decision to increase the display to 8,000 fireworks—twice the number in 2025. Set against Nakaumi, the display fills both the night sky and the water with colour. Large water fireworks, size-10 shells and special “thank-you fireworks” recognising donors were also being considered, promising an eventful 40-minute programme.

Venue and map
Fireworks are launched from the Yonago Port quay. The area around Minatoyama Park is another main viewing area, where spectators can enjoy reflections on Nakaumi. The surroundings are busy throughout the festival, so check the location in advance.
Getting there
The venue is approximately a 15–20-minute walk from JR Yonago Station. Extensive traffic restrictions are introduced around the festival, including road closures and one-way sections. Roads and public transport are expected to be particularly crowded after the fireworks.
There is no dedicated temporary event parking, so public transport is strongly recommended. Extra trains may operate on the JR Hakubi and Sakai lines; check the transport operators' official websites for updates. Note the last return services and allow plenty of time for your journey.
Paid viewing seats and tickets
Paid viewing seats are planned for the 2026 Yonago Gaina Festival Grand Fireworks. This year, seats are offered as rewards for donations. New front-row seats, chair seats and photography seats have been introduced to provide a more comfortable view of the close-up display.
Applications for viewing tickets are listed as opening at 10:00 on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and closing at 19:00 on Sunday, August 9, or earlier if the allocation sells out. Early application is therefore recommended. The amounts are expected to depend on the donation level, and no confirmed price list has been given. Check the official Yonago Gaina Festival website for details.
Suggested quieter viewing spots
The following places are recommended for visitors hoping to avoid the main crowds.
Yonago Castle Ruins On elevated ground overlooking central Yonago and Nakaumi, the castle ruins offer the possibility of looking down towards the fireworks. Although a little farther from the launch area, the relatively open outlook combines the display with atmospheric night views.
Nakaumi Fureai Park A little way from Yonago Port, this spacious park is described as a quieter option for a relaxed evening. It is suggested for families and for photography, with the possibility of seeing reflections on the water.
Ara Essa Roadside Station In Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, Ara Essa Roadside Station is farther from central Yonago. It is a place to watch across Nakaumi. Parking makes it convenient for visitors arriving by car, particularly those who prefer a distant overview rather than the main crowds.
Kaike Onsen district Some hotels and ryokan in the Kaike Onsen area are described as offering special fireworks packages. Depending on the property and package, guests may be able to enjoy a view from a room or while using its hot-spring facilities.
Yumigahama observation area An observation area at Yumigahama offers a quiet view combining the night scenery and fireworks. It is farther from the launch point, but may appeal to visitors seeking a calmer atmosphere.
