At Kaike Onsen in Yonago, Tottori, the Kaike Onsen Mini Fireworks are held as a beloved summer tradition. Their biggest feature is that they are launched every day for about a month. At Kaike Onsen Kaiyū Beach, overlooking the Sea of Japan, you can enjoy a summer stay that combines hot springs and swimming in the sea.

This information is current as of 2026年7月. Be sure to check the official website for the latest updates before visiting.

Introduction: This Is Not a One-Night Fireworks Festival

Although it is often searched for as the “Kaike Onsen Summer Festival Fireworks,” the fireworks at Kaike Onsen are not a large-scale, one-night-only event. Officially called the “Kaike Onsen Mini Fireworks,” they are launched every day at 21:00 for about 3 minutes over a period of approximately one month.

That is not a drawback—it is the event’s greatest advantage. There is no need to plan your itinerary around a specific date: you can see the fireworks whenever you stay during the event period.

Highlights

Because the display lasts only 3 minutes, this is not a festival that competes on sheer scale. Its appeal lies in how close and effortless it is.

The fireworks are launched just in front of the beach, making it easy to come down from your inn in a yukata and geta, then return to the hot springs as soon as the display ends. That relaxed atmosphere is the true essence of these fireworks. Unlike a major festival, there is no need to claim a spot for hours or worry about catching the last train home.

Take a walk to the beach after dinner, look up for 3 minutes, and then soak in the hot springs again. The fireworks add another dimension to the experience of staying at a hot spring resort.

Access

By Bus

From JR Yonago Station, take a bus bound for “Kaike Onsen.” The ride takes approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the Kaike Kanko Center bus stop, then walk for approximately 5 minutes.

By Car

From the Yonago IC on the Yonago Expressway, it takes approximately 10 minutes (about 6 km) to reach Kaike Onsen.

Parking: Kaike Onsen Kaiyū Beach visitor parking lot (1,000 yen per vehicle/1 day)

Free after 17:00. Since the fireworks begin at 21:00, you will not have to pay for parking if you arrive in the evening.

Paid Seating and Tickets

There are no paid viewing areas. Viewing is free and you can watch from anywhere along the beach.

Viewing Spots

Because the fireworks are held every day and last only 3 minutes, there is no intense competition for space like at a major fireworks festival. The following spots offer a more relaxed viewing experience.

1. Kaike Onsen Kaiyū Beach (an area slightly away from the launch site)

This is the main venue, but the beach is spacious, so the crowds thin out if you move a little away from the center. You will still be close enough for a great view, making this the best-balanced option.

2. Kaike Seaside Park

This park is located next to the beach. It has a seaside foot bath, where you can warm your feet while waiting for the fireworks. It is also a good choice for families with small children.

3. Nagisa Promenade

This promenade runs along the coast at Kaike Onsen. There are few obstructions to your view, and it is easy to stop by as an extension of a walk from your inn.

Watching from your accommodation: Some inns offer views of the fireworks from rooms facing the sea, but some accommodations may not have a view due to the launch position. If you are hoping to watch from your room, contact the inn directly before booking.
