The “79th Kisarazu Port Festival Fireworks,” One of the Largest Fireworks Displays in the Kanto Region

Held every year in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, the Kisarazu Port Festival Fireworks is a major summer event that attracts large crowds. In 2026, it will be held for the 79th time, with approximately 1万4000 fireworks vividly illuminating the night sky over Kisarazu Port. Highlights include an extra-large star mine described as one of the largest in the Kanto region, underwater fireworks that light up the surface of the sea, and successive launches of large shell fireworks. The sight of Nakano-shima Bridge, the port’s landmark, emerging in the glow of the fireworks is known as a spectacular and atmospheric view unique to Kisarazu. Because the fireworks are launched from the inner harbor at close range, one of the event’s greatest attractions is the immersive experience of feeling the explosions reverberate through your body.

Venue and Map

The main venue for the fireworks festival is Kisarazu Port Inner Harbor, located a short distance from the west exit (Minato Exit) of JR Kisarazu Station. The fireworks are launched from near Nakano-shima Park, which sits in the harbor, and visitors can experience their power from various locations around the port. Since Nakano-shima Park is the launch site, general spectators are not permitted to enter, but the spectacular fireworks can be enjoyed from the surrounding viewing areas.

Access

The nearest station is Kisarazu Station on the JR Uchibo and Kururi lines. The venue is approximately a 10-minute~15-minute walk from the west exit (Minato Exit), making it easily accessible.

Access by train From the west exit (Minato Exit) of JR Kisarazu Station, walk straight along Fujimi-dori to reach the venue. The area is expected to be extremely crowded on the day of the fireworks festival, so it is recommended that you allow plenty of time. To arrive in time for the 19時05分 start, getting to the area at around 17時 should make it possible to move around relatively smoothly.

Things to note during busy periods JR Kisarazu Station becomes extremely crowded after the fireworks, and access through the station’s pedestrian passage is restricted from 20:00 until around 22:00. Visitors who are not using the ticket gates may not be able to enter from the stairs at the Minato Exit (west exit), so those heading toward the east exit will need to take a significant detour. It is strongly recommended that you charge your transit IC card or purchase your ticket in advance.

Access by car and parking The venue is approximately 10 minutes from the Kisarazu-Minami IC on the Tateyama Expressway via National Routes 127 and 16. However, extensive traffic restrictions will be imposed around the venue on the day of the event. Roads, particularly Fujimi-dori, will be closed to vehicles. Restrictions will apply around the Omatsuri Hiroba area from 14時, and around Kisarazu Port from 17時30分 to 21時30分, so plan accordingly.

Parking is available, but spaces are limited, and the use of public transportation is strongly recommended. Some official parking lots are expected to require advance reservations (for a fee), with reservations likely to open around early July. You can also search for nearby reservable parking through services such as Nokisaki Parking.

Paid Seating and Tickets

The “79th Kisarazu Port Festival Fireworks” generally offers paid viewing areas where visitors can watch the fireworks in comfort.

Types and estimated prices As of 2026年7月, the official details and prices for the paid seating have not yet been announced. In previous years, reserved chair seating and other options have been sold, with chair seating in particular tending to sell out early.

How to purchase tickets Ticket sales are scheduled to begin on 2026年7月1日(水). Tickets are expected to be available through the CN Playguide website, convenience-store multifunction copiers, or by phone. Please check the official Kisarazu City website for the latest information. If tickets sell out in advance, no same-day tickets will be available.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots

Here are several lesser-known spots for those who want to enjoy the fireworks while avoiding the crowds.

  • Toriizaki Seaside Park Located at the foot of Nakano-shima Bridge, this is one of the closest free viewing spots to the launch site. The thrill of experiencing the extra-large star mine at close range is exceptional. The park has good facilities, but its parking lot is closed to parking all day on the day of the festival, so access by train is essential. People begin seriously reserving their spots from around 15時.

  • Shiohama Park This spacious, open park has broad lawns and is a comfortable viewing spot for families with small children. The combination of Nakano-shima Bridge, Kisarazu Port’s landmark, and the fireworks is also beautiful. Toilets and food stalls are located nearby, so arriving early is recommended.

  • Odayama Park (Kisamizaru Tower) Located on elevated ground with a sweeping view of the entire harbor, this spot is recommended for those who want to avoid the crowds or photograph the fireworks together with the night view. It is somewhat distant from the launch site, but allows you to relax and enjoy the fireworks’ grand scale from afar.

  • Umihotaru Parking Area From Umihotaru PA on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, you can enjoy a distant view of the fireworks from a location approximately 11km from the launch site. The fireworks will look small, but the area is largely free of crowds, offering a special experience with a fantastical atmosphere across Tokyo Bay. Since it is accessible by car, it is an ideal place to stop by as part of a drive.

  • Aeon Mall Kisarazu rooftop parking lot The fireworks are reportedly also visible from the rooftop parking lot at Aeon Mall Kisarazu. It is another recommended spot for families with small children. However, even if the parking lot is not subject to restrictions, take great care around vehicles while watching the fireworks.
