▶ Open on YouTube — like & subscribeThe Kamogawa Citizens' Fireworks Festival is a beloved summer tradition that brightens Kamogawa's summer night sky and attracts large crowds every year. In 2026, around 3,000 fireworks are scheduled to be launched over the beautiful Maehara-Yokosuka Beach, which has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best beaches. The spectacular sight of colorful fireworks, including large shell fireworks, illuminating the sky and ocean against the backdrop of the vast Pacific is truly breathtaking. Numerous food stalls will also line the area around the venue, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere.
This article provides an in-depth look at everything you need to know before heading out, from an overview of the 2026 Kamogawa Citizens' Fireworks Festival to access information, recommended lesser-known viewing spots, and special paid seating options.
Venue and Map
The fireworks for the Kamogawa Citizens' Fireworks Festival will be launched from the Kamogawa Fishing Port Maehara Breakwater, in front of Maehara-Yokosuka Beach in Kamogawa City. This scenic beach was selected as one of the “100 Best Beaches in Japan,” and the fireworks launched against the backdrop of the vast Pacific are exceptionally beautiful. In addition to the main venue at Maehara-Yokosuka Beach, the fireworks can also be viewed from the slightly more distant Tojo Beach and Futomi Beach.
Access
Public transportation is the most convenient way to get to the Kamogawa Citizens' Fireworks Festival venue.
Access from the nearest station
The venue, Maehara-Yokosuka Beach, is only about a 5-minute walk from JR Awa-Kamogawa Station, so visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive by train.
Driving and parking
From the afternoon of the event, roads near Maehara Beach will be closed to vehicles and traffic restrictions will be in effect (excluding residents and others who need access for daily life). In past years, the restrictions have generally been in place from around 17:00 to around 21:30. No parking is provided for spectators around the venue, and nearby commercial parking lots are not intended for fireworks viewing, so visitors are asked not to use them for that purpose.
The following public parking areas are available:
- Shakai Taiiku Center Parking Lot: Paid (2,000円), with space for approximately 300 vehicles. Available from 9:00 to 21:30, but the fee will be charged again if you leave and re-enter.
- Kamogawa Driving School Parking Lot: Paid (1,000円), with space for approximately 200 vehicles. Available from 15:00 to 21:30, but the fee will be charged again if you leave and re-enter.
- Kamogawa Sea World West Parking Lot: Free, with space for approximately 160 vehicles. Available from 17:00 to 21:30.
- Kameda Hospital Royal Parking Lot: Free, with space for approximately 200 vehicles. Available from 17:00 to 21:30.
Because parking is limited, visitors are strongly advised to use public transportation.
Be mindful of the last train home
JR Awa-Kamogawa Station is expected to be extremely crowded after the fireworks end. In particular, visitors coming from farther away should check the last train time from JR Awa-Kamogawa Station in advance and allow plenty of time.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots
Here are several lesser-known spots where you can enjoy the Kamogawa Citizens' Fireworks Festival more comfortably.
Around the Seaside Promenade:
The area around the Seaside Promenade, a walkway along Maehara-Yokosuka Beach, is a scenic spot where you can enjoy the magical sight of fireworks reflected beautifully on the water. Its open setting makes it possible to watch the fireworks in relative comfort, making it a popular area. It is also conveniently close to JR Awa-Kamogawa Station.Breakwater near Kamogawa Lighthouse:
This spot is relatively close to the venue and offers an exhilarating view of the fireworks. With an unobstructed outlook across the sea, the fireworks are especially impressive, and you can feel the sound of each blast up close.Futomi Beach:
Located south of Maehara-Yokosuka Beach, Futomi Beach is recommended for those who want to enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed atmosphere away from the main venue. It is a great place to avoid the crowds while making the most of a summer evening.Uomizuka Observatory:
From Uomizuka Observatory, which offers a panoramic view of Kamogawa's urban area, you can watch the fireworks from above, almost as if from a “god's-eye view.” Although it is some distance from the venue, it is ideal for those who want to enjoy the fireworks in a distinctive atmosphere unlike anywhere else.Aeon Kamogawa parking lot/rooftop:
Aeon Kamogawa, located approximately 1km from the launch site, is known as a lesser-known spot with a good view. The fireworks may not feel as powerful from here, but it is a good option for those who want to avoid the crowds and watch at a leisurely pace. However, we recommend checking with the store in advance to confirm whether the rooftop will be open as a viewing area for the 2026 festival.
