Some 2026 event information places a “Nagano Binzuru Fireworks Festival” on the Sai River riverbed (west side of Nagano Ohashi Bridge) on Sunday, August 2.
The official announcement states that the 2026 Nagano Binzuru will be held in central Nagano City on Saturday, August 1. However, multiple sources clearly state that the Nagano Binzuru Festival itself has no fireworks display scheduled. Nagano Binzuru is a summer festival where citizens come together to enjoy dancing, while fireworks are usually held on separate occasions, such as the Nagano Ebisu-ko Fireworks Festival in winter.
For this reason, this guide does not give a number of fireworks or paid-seating details for a “Nagano Binzuru Fireworks Festival”. Below is an overview of the Nagano Binzuru Festival.
Event Overview
Nagano Binzuru is a civic festival founded on the principle of “all citizens enjoying harmony and participating together,” and is cherished as one of Nagano’s signature summer traditions. A ceremonial fire cauldron is prepared using a sacred flame received from the “Eternal Sacred Light,” which has continued burning for more than 1400 years in the main hall of Zenkoji Temple. The Binzuru Dance then takes place along the pedestrianized streets in the city center. Daytime events include a waterslide and working vehicles, keeping the area lively throughout the day.
