Lesser-Known Viewing Spots
One of the defining features of the Unazuki Onsen Gorge Fireworks Spectacular is that the fireworks can be seen from anywhere in the hot spring town. Here are several lesser-known spots that offer an especially enjoyable experience.
Main venue (near Unazuki Station on the Kurobe Gorge Railway / near Yamabiko Observatory): This spot is close to where the largest number of fireworks are launched, allowing you to see multiple launches at once. Near the Chitetsu railroad crossing: Located between the fireworks launch sites, this area offers the special sensation of feeling surrounded by fireworks—something difficult to experience at other fireworks festivals. You cannot hear the music here, but the area has many shops and day-use hot spring baths, making it an ideal place to spend time before the fireworks begin. It is approximately a 4-minute walk from the main venue.
Omakagebashi Bridge: A popular spot where you can view fireworks launched from multiple locations. It is particularly well known among photographers who want to set up tripods to capture the fireworks. It is approximately an 8-minute walk from the main venue.
Unazuki Park: Located in the center of the hot spring town, this is one of the better places for watching the fireworks. Its spacious setting is ideal for those who want to relax and enjoy the show.
Ryokan and hotels in Unazuki Onsen: Many ryokan and hotels may offer views of the fireworks from guest rooms, open-air baths, rooftops, and other locations. In particular, rooms facing the Kurobe River allow you to enjoy fireworks exploding right in front of you from the privacy of your own space.
