The "Teganuma Fireworks Festival" (手賀沼花火大会), jointly hosted by Kashiwa City (柏市) and Abiko City (我孫子市) in Chiba Prefecture (千葉県), illuminates the summer night sky. It is a large-scale fireworks display, launching approximately 13,500 fireworks against the backdrop of Teganuma Lake's (手賀沼) rich natural environment. A diverse array of fireworks captivates spectators, including enchanting underwater fireworks (水中花火), powerful ultra jumbo starmines (ウルトラジャンボスターマイン), and popular character-themed fireworks (キャラクターマイン) for children. Hidden Gem Spots
For those who wish to enjoy the fireworks away from the crowds, here are a few hidden gem spots.
- Embankment next to Tega Ohashi Bridge (手賀大橋) Located almost in the center of Teganuma Lake (手賀沼), this spot offers an excellent location to view fireworks from both the Kashiwa (柏) and Abiko (我孫子) sides simultaneously. It is a popular spot among locals, and while not as crowded as Teganuma Park (手賀沼公園), some space-saving may be required.
- Teganuma Fureai Line (手賀沼ふれあいライン) On the day of the fireworks festival, a section of the Teganuma Fureai Line will be closed to vehicles, and the half of the road facing the lake will be opened as a viewing area. While space-saving is not permitted here, there is a possibility to enjoy the fireworks relatively uncrowded. Walking from Teganuma Park towards Kita-Kashiwa Station (北柏駅) while viewing is also recommended.
- Kita-Kashiwa Furusato Park (北柏ふるさと公園) Although a little further from the launch site, this park is recommended for those who want to watch the fireworks in a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the main venue. However, as it does not face Teganuma Lake, some fireworks, such as underwater fireworks, may be difficult to see.
- Mallage Kashiwa (モラージュ柏) Rooftop This commercial facility annually opens its rooftop parking lot as a fireworks viewing area. It is located directly facing the launch site, and with shopping also available, it is popular with families.
- High ground around Abiko City Hall (我孫子市役所) In the elevated area on the way from Abiko Station (我孫子駅) South Exit towards Teganuma Lake, it may be possible to see the fireworks overlooking Teganuma Lake from certain spots. As this is a residential area, please be mindful of manners, such as keeping noise down, when viewing.
