Getting There

The Nanki-Shirahama Fireworks Festa can be reached by either public transportation or car.

By Public Transportation

From JR Shirahama Station on the Kinokuni Line, take a Meiko Bus bound for Sandanbeki. The journey takes approximately 14 minutes, and you will arrive at the Shirarahama bus stop. The venue is just a short walk from the bus stop.

By Car

From Nanki-Shirahama IC on the Kisei Expressway, take the Flower Line Prefectural Road (Prefectural Route 34) toward Shirarahama. The drive takes approximately 10 minutes.

Parking and Traffic Restrictions

Traffic restrictions will be in place around the venue on the day of the fireworks festival. In previous years, restrictions have sometimes been imposed from around 19:00 until around 23:00, so allowing plenty of extra time is recommended. Please note that during the restrictions, it may not be possible to exit parking lots located along restricted roads.

The former Nanki-Shirahama Airport site will be opened as a free temporary parking area. It is a large space capable of accommodating approximately 1,000 vehicles, but it takes about 30 minutes to walk from there to Shirarahama, the venue. The route also includes hills, so families with small children should allow extra time for the journey. There are also privately operated paid parking lots around the venue. As parking lots are expected to fill up early, arriving by around 17:00 is recommended.

Be Careful Not to Miss the Last Train

After the fireworks end, severe traffic jams can occur on the roads and in parking lots around the venue. If you are using public transportation, check bus and train schedules in advance and take care not to miss the last service.

Paid Seating and Tickets

According to official information, no paid viewing areas will be set up for the Nanki-Shirahama Fireworks Festa 2026, and admission is free. The broad sands of Shirarahama will be open to the public as a free viewing area, so you can enjoy the impressive fireworks without purchasing a ticket.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots

Shirarahama is the best place to experience the power of the fireworks up close, but it is expected to be extremely crowded. Here are several lesser-known spots where you may be able to enjoy the display while avoiding the biggest crowds.

  • Around Yuzaki Breakwater The area around Yuzaki Breakwater, located south of Shirarahama, is a popular hidden gem among locals and repeat visitors. Although it is a little farther from the venue, you may be able to watch the fireworks in a relatively relaxed setting.

  • Heisogen Park Located on slightly higher ground a short distance from Shirarahama, Heisogen Park is known as a spot with few buildings blocking the view, allowing you to see the fireworks across the sky. It is recommended for those who want to avoid the crowds and watch the display in peace.

  • Former Nanki-Shirahama Airport Site The former Nanki-Shirahama Airport site, which is used as a free temporary parking area, is also a good lesser-known viewing spot thanks to its elevated position. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk to the venue, but it is a good option for those who want to relax in a spacious area.

  • Your Hotel Room Many hotels around Shirarahama offer rooms where you can watch the fireworks. For those who want to enjoy the display slowly in a private space without worrying about the crowds, watching from a hotel is likely the most luxurious option.
