Venue and Map
The Fukuyama Summer Festival Fireworks Display takes place at Fukuyama Riverside Multipurpose Plaza, along the Abukuma River in Fukuyama-machi, Koriyama, Fukushima. Food stalls operated by local restaurants are also set up at the venue, allowing visitors to sample specialties from Koriyama and Fukushima while waiting for the show.
Access
By train or bus From JR Koriyama Station, take a Fukushima Transportation bus bound for Miharu or Funehiki. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes to the Mizuanah bus stop. From the bus stop, it is about a 5-minute walk to the venue. Public transportation is recommended on the day of the fireworks, and heavy crowds are expected, so allow plenty of extra time for your journey.
By car From the Koriyama-Higashi IC on the Ban-etsu Expressway, take National Route 288 and Prefectural Route 73, then follow National Route 288 toward Aikuma Bridge for approximately 3 km by car. Approximately 300 free parking spaces are available around the venue, but they are often full by around 17:00 in typical years. Traffic restrictions will also be in effect around the venue from 17:00 to 21:15. Please note that between 20:15 and 22:00, some sections will prohibit entry onto National Route 288 toward Miharu from the former National Route 4 and Tobu Kansen Road areas. The use of public transportation is strongly recommended.
Be careful of the last train home The roads and public transportation around the venue become extremely crowded after the fireworks end. Buses heading back toward JR Koriyama Station are particularly busy, so check the last train times in advance and make sure you leave plenty of time.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots
The Fukuyama Summer Festival Fireworks Display is centered at Fukuyama Riverside Multipurpose Plaza, but at present, no particular “hidden gem” viewing locations have been confirmed through official information or major tourism websites. However, the following types of locations may be worth considering when looking for a less crowded spot to watch fireworks.
- Along the riverside, a short distance from the venue: The Abukuma River riverbank a little farther from the main venue may offer the chance to avoid the crowds and enjoy the fireworks at a more relaxed pace. However, if you move too far from the launch site, the fireworks may appear smaller or be blocked by buildings.
- Slightly elevated areas nearby: If there are low hills or elevated areas around the venue, you may be able to watch the fireworks from above. Never enter private property or restricted areas.
- Rooftops of commercial facilities farther away: Nearby commercial facilities may sometimes open rooftop parking areas to the public, but you will need to check their official websites in advance. At present, no such information could be found for this fireworks display.
If you are considering watching from a lesser-known spot, check the surrounding geography on a map beforehand. Each visitor should determine whether the fireworks are likely to be visible and whether the location is safe for viewing.
