▶ Open on YouTube — like & subscribeThe Todabashi Fireworks Festival fills the summer sky above the broad natural setting of the Arakawa River. The 2026 event is the 73rd edition, “Sky Fantasia,” marking the 60th anniversary of Toda's incorporation as a city. Held simultaneously with the Itabashi Fireworks Festival on the opposite bank, the two displays total approximately 15,000 fireworks. Large No. 10 shells, also called shaku shells, are a relatively unusual feature in the Tokyo metropolitan area and create an expansive spectacle. A special programme involving local residents is also planned for this anniversary edition.
Information as of July 14, 2026. Event arrangements, access and ticket details can change, so check the official website before travelling.

Venue and map
The venue is the Arakawa riverbank in Toda, upstream of Todabashi Bridge on National Route 17. The broad riverbank provides the setting for the display. On the opposite bank in Tokyo's Itabashi Ward, the Itabashi Fireworks Festival takes place simultaneously, creating a spectacle of fireworks from both sides of the river.
Getting there
The nearest station is Toda-koen on the JR Saikyo Line. The eastern venue is approximately 20 minutes away on foot, while the western venue takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour to reach. Heavy crowds are expected, so leave ample time.
By train
- From Toda-koen Station on the JR Saikyo Line: approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour on foot, depending on the viewing area.
- Access is also possible from Ukima-Funado Station on the JR Saikyo Line, although its concourse and platforms become particularly crowded.
- Hasune, Nishidai and Takashimadaira stations on the Toei Mita Line are also options, each with an approximate 20-minute walk. Hasune is a particularly good alternative to the congestion at Ukima-Funado.
By car The area around the venue is closed to vehicles from approximately 17:00 to 22:00, and no parking is available nearby. Public transport is strongly recommended. There is a limited allocation of paid parking tickets available only by advance purchase; check the official website for those arrangements.
Crowd-related precautions
- Station ticket counters and vending machines become very crowded. Top up an IC card such as PASMO or Suica beforehand.
- Traffic restrictions apply around the venue. Follow attendants' directions.
- The footpath on Todabashi Bridge becomes one-way from 17:00 on the event day.
Paid seating and tickets
The venue's general viewing areas are entirely paid seating in 2026, with approximately 25,000 seats—the largest allocation to date. Options range from close-up seats where fireworks seem to fill the view to more spacious areas for relaxed viewing.

Alternative viewing spots
The following alternatives suit those who would like to avoid the heaviest crowds. These locations may also become busy, so arriving early is recommended.
Around Toda Boat Racecourse Approximately 40 minutes on foot from Toda-koen Station, this area is described as offering a relatively relaxed view. Parking was available in the past but is now reported as closed.
Ukima Park This large park is directly in front of Ukima-Funado Station on the JR Saikyo Line. It offers views of both the Todabashi and Itabashi displays, with room to spend time comfortably. Toilets also make it a suggested option for families with small children.
Aeon Kita-Toda The shopping centre's car park is listed as an alternative viewing spot. Access to food and toilets may make it convenient for those seeking a more comfortable setting away from the main crowds.
Saiko-Doman Green Park A little farther from the venue, this park is suggested for those who prioritise avoiding congestion. The sound is quieter, but it offers a clear overall view of the fireworks.
Arakawa embankments near Kita-Akabane Station The riverbank embankments near Kita-Akabane Station on the JR Saikyo Line may also offer a relatively less crowded option.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Does the display go ahead in rain? A. It goes ahead in light rain. Heavy rain, strong winds, lightning and other severe conditions cause cancellation, with no postponement. The decision is announced on the official website by 10:00 on the day; check before travelling.
Q. What should I be careful about when travelling to the venue? A. Toda-koen and Ukima-Funado stations on the JR Saikyo Line become extremely crowded. At Ukima-Funado, crowds may fill the platforms to the point that passengers have difficulty getting off arriving trains. Allow extra time and top up your IC card beforehand. Vehicles cannot enter the surrounding restricted area, so use public transport.
Q. Do preschool children need paid-seating tickets? A. Not if they watch from a guardian's lap. A ticket is required if they occupy their own seat.
Q. May I bring a pet? A. Visitors are asked not to bring pets, as some spectators are uncomfortable around animals and the loud fireworks may frighten them.
Q. Can food and drinks be purchased inside? A. A variety of food trucks and similar vendors are planned, offering drinks and food within the venue.
