In 2026, the festival will take place on 10月10日(土), with approximately 1万2900 fireworks lighting up the night sky over Kannonaike Park. This year’s program is expected to be more spectacular than ever: a 500-drone show commemorating the 20th anniversary of the new city’s establishment will be held before the fireworks, and, for the first time in Kyushu, fireworks will be launched by four groups of artisans from Omagari. During the day, savor Japan’s finest meat and shochu at the Miyakonojo Yakiniku Carnival, then spend the evening enjoying a special competition between music-synchronized fireworks and the drone show—a memorable day that delights all five senses.

By Bus
From JR Miyakonojo Station, take Takazaki Kanko Bus’s “Suzugano Line” and get off at the Kannonaike Iriguchi bus stop. The journey takes approximately 39 minutes, and the fare is 630円. You can also get off at the “Kannonsakura-no-Sato” bus stop.

Be Careful Not to Miss the Last Train Home

Reserved Seating and Tickets
The “Miyakonjo Fireworks Festival, the Home of Meat and Shochu” does not offer reserved seating exclusively for the fireworks. However, by purchasing a ticket for the simultaneously held “Miyakonojo Yakiniku Carnival,” you can use a designated seat in the venue while enjoying yakiniku and watching the fireworks.
- Advance ticket: 3,000円 (tax included)
- Same-day ticket: 3,500円 (tax included)
These tickets include a 250g meat pack consisting of 100g of beef, 100g of pork, and 50g of chicken. Advance tickets are scheduled to go on sale from Saturday, August 1 and will be available while supplies last, so purchasing early is recommended. Ticket holders will receive a wristband at the entrance and may use the seating inside the venue. Visitors without tickets may still enter the venue, but cannot use the seats.
Less-Crowded Viewing Spots
Although the Miyakonjo Fireworks Festival attracts large crowds every year, there are several lesser-known spots where you can enjoy the fireworks in a more relaxed setting with a little planning.
- Around Takajo Kannonaike Onsen, including Kannonsakura-no-Sato The area around the Takajo Kannonaike Onsen hot spring facility, adjacent to Kannonaike Park, is away from the bustle of the center of the venue, allowing you to wait for the fireworks with relatively few people around. At “Kannonsakura-no-Sato” in particular, you may even have the luxurious opportunity to watch the fireworks while soaking in an open-air bath.
- The elevated areas of Kannonaike Park Since the main venue, Kannonaike Park, is so expansive, parking lots and other elevated areas a little away from the center offer open views and can be excellent less-crowded spots for experiencing the powerful fireworks up close. Take advantage of the park’s terrain and look for your own perfect viewing position.
- Hayamizu Park Observation Area Located a little away from the venue, the “Hayamizu Park Observation Area” is known as a hidden spot familiar mainly to locals. It is recommended for those who want to watch the fireworks from a distance in a quiet setting, together with the Miyakonojo nightscape.
