The “Kita Ward Fireworks Festival RED×BLUE SPARKLE GATE” lights up Tokyo’s autumn night sky with a next-generation fireworks entertainment experience held along the Arakawa River. Approximately 1万 fireworks combine with music, moving lights, and a drone show to captivate visitors. Set against the backdrop of the Old Iwabuchi Watergate and New Iwabuchi Watergate—both designated National Important Cultural Properties—the fireworks create a spectacular view unique to Kita Ward.
Event Overview
The 2026 Kita Ward Fireworks Festival will be held for the 13th time. This year’s theme is “LOVE ―The Light of Our Feelings―,” expressing a variety of emotions as fireworks blooming in the night sky.
Venue and Map
The Kita Ward Fireworks Festival takes place around the Iwabuchi Watergates along the Arakawa riverbank. With the Old Iwabuchi Watergate (Red Watergate) and New Iwabuchi Watergate (Blue Watergate) standing side by side, this scenic location offers a unique combination of fireworks and historic watergates.
Getting There
Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation to reach the Kita Ward Fireworks Festival. Please note that there are no parking lots near the venue.
Access from the nearest stations
- Tokyo Metro Namboku Line: “Akabane-Iwabuchi Station” and “Shimo Station”: Approximately 20 minutes on foot
- JR “Akabane Station” East Exit: Approximately 25 minutes on foot
- JR “Kita-Akabane Station” Akabane Exit: Approximately 18 minutes on foot to the upstream entrance of the free viewing area
- JR “Kita-Akabane Station” Ukima Exit: Approximately 20 minutes on foot to the upstream entrance of the free viewing area
Alternative routes during busy periods On the day of the fireworks festival, the route from the stations to the riverbank is expected to be extremely crowded, and reaching the venue may take 30分〜1時間. In particular, the area around Akabane Station is expected to be busy, so visitors are encouraged to come via JR Kita-Akabane Station (Akabane Exit), which is likely to have relatively fewer visitors. The venue can also be accessed from the Kawaguchi side: 25 minutes on foot from Saitama Railway’s “Kawaguchi-Motogo Station” or 40 minutes on foot from JR “Kawaguchi Station.” Crowds on the Kawaguchi side tend to be more dispersed than on the Tokyo side.
Be aware of the last train when leaving The fireworks are scheduled to end at 19時30分, but it will take time to leave the venue. During particularly busy periods, entry restrictions may be imposed at the stations. Check your transportation options and last train times in advance, and allow plenty of time for your journey home.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots
For those who would like to enjoy the fireworks without reserved seating, here are several lesser-known viewing spots. These locations are free to view from, but they are somewhat farther from the launch site, so please be aware that the fireworks may appear smaller.
Arakawa Embankment (Kawaguchi side) This viewing spot offers views from Kawaguchi City in Saitama Prefecture, across the Arakawa River. Crowds are generally more dispersed than on the Tokyo side, making it possible to enjoy the fireworks in a more relaxed atmosphere. Even when no paid seating is available on the Kawaguchi side, there are areas where the fireworks can be viewed for free from the embankment. From the West Exit of JR Kawaguchi Station, head toward the Arakawa riverbank. However, a railway bridge may obstruct the view, so checking the location on a map in advance is recommended.
Arakawa General Sports Park This spacious park is located a short distance from the venue and is expected to offer a relatively open view of the fireworks launch area. It is recommended for families and anyone who wants to avoid the crowds.
Adachi City Urban Agriculture Park This park is located on the opposite bank of the Arakawa River, on the Adachi Ward side. Although it is some distance from the launch site, there are few obstructions, allowing you to view the fireworks from afar. Enjoy the show picnic-style in this lush natural setting.
Shin-Arakawa Ohashi Green Space This greenbelt stretches around Shin-Arakawa Ohashi and is sometimes used as part of the free viewing area. It is also relatively easy to access from JR Kita-Akabane Station and is close to the upstream entrance of the free viewing area.
Elevated areas around Akabane Station From some elevated spots within walking distance of Akabane Station’s East Exit, it may be possible to see the upper portions of the fireworks. However, buildings and other obstacles may block the view, so checking the location in advance is recommended.
