The main venue for the Beppu Hi no Umi Festival Summer Evening Fireworks Display is the area around Beppu Spa Beach along Beppu Bay. The fireworks are launched from a barge offshore from Beppu Spa Beach, allowing visitors to enjoy a spectacular show up close with the vast expanse of Beppu Bay as a backdrop. • By Train Beppu Spa Beach, the main venue, is approximately a 10～15-minute walk from the East Exit of Beppu Station on the JR Nippo Main Line. The area around the station and the roads leading to the venue become extremely crowded on the day of the fireworks, so allow plenty of time. Beppu Station is particularly congested after the fireworks end, so be sure to check the time of your last train home.

• By Car The venue is approximately 15 minutes by car from the Beppu IC on the Higashikyushu Expressway. However, there are no free parking lots near the venue, and extensive traffic restrictions will be in place. To avoid the crowds, we recommend using a park-and-ride system: leave your car at a coin-operated parking lot near a station several stops away from the venue, then take the train to Beppu Station. You may also want to consider a parking service that allows advance reservations.

Reserved Seating and Tickets

For those who want to watch the fireworks in comfort and at a leisurely pace, paid fireworks support seating is recommended. The paid seating area is set up in the Kitahama Greenbelt, directly in front of the fireworks launch site, and includes pipe-chair seats, a lawn area, and BBQ seating.

• Pipe-Chair Seats: ¥4,000 These seats are popular with families with small children and older visitors because they allow you to sit and enjoy the show comfortably.
• Lawn Area: Adults ¥1,000, elementary school students and younger ¥500 A relatively flexible space where you can spread out a leisure sheet and enjoy the fireworks.

You can also capture the ferries and fireworks together in a photograph, making it a great choice for photographers looking for a photogenic shot.
2. Yukemuri Observatory This uniquely Beppu vantage point offers a beautiful view of the fireworks alongside the steam rising from Beppu’s hot springs, a symbol of the city. Set on elevated ground a little away from the downtown area, it is ideal for anyone who wants to avoid the crowds and enjoy the fireworks in a romantic atmosphere.
3. Yume Town Beppu Rooftop From the rooftop of this large shopping complex, you can enjoy the fireworks in a relatively relaxed setting. Its convenience also makes it an easy place to stop by while shopping. However, you will need to check on the day whether the rooftop is open to viewers and how crowded it is.
4. Shonin-ga-hama Park Located near Beppudaigaku Station, this park has a relaxed atmosphere and is popular with local residents. The fireworks viewed through the pine trees have a nostalgic charm, making this a good choice for those who want to watch quietly while listening to the sound of the waves.
