If you are bringing 15, 30 or 50 people to the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 (19 September to 4 October), a charter bus with a Japanese driver solves the one problem public transport cannot: moving everyone together, on your own timetable, with the flags, banners, packed lunches and suitcases that a real group carries.
The Games use more than 50 venues spread across Aichi Prefecture, not just Nagoya city. Toyota, Okazaki, Ichinomiya, Kasugai, Gamagori and Tokoname all host competition. Trains reach most of them, but a group of 40 changing lines loses time at every platform and someone always gets separated. A coach removes the changes.
This guide covers what a group leader needs to decide before requesting a quote: vehicle size, what really happens at the venue gate, when to book, and where the money goes.
Why groups charter instead of riding the train
Nagoya's rail network is strong. Nagoya Station handles the Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo in about 1 hour 40 minutes, Kyoto about 35, Shin-Osaka about 50), plus JR, Meitetsu, Kintetsu and two subway lines. Kanayama Station is the second hub and sits close to the Mizuho area where the main stadium is.
For a group, three things change the calculation.
- Headcount discipline. On a coach, one person counts heads once. On a train, the leader counts at every platform and hopes nobody boarded the wrong carriage.
- Late finishes. After ceremonies and finals, trains keep running but the crowds are heavy and the last services leave around midnight. A coach waits where you told it to.
- Out-of-town venues. Toyota Stadium is roughly 40 to 60 minutes from Nagoya by road, Okazaki 50 to 70, Gamagori 60 to 80, all traffic-dependent. Those trips by rail involve changes that a coach does not.
Honest limit: if your whole group stays near Kanayama and only attends events at Paloma Mizuho Stadium, the train may be simpler and cheaper. Chartering wins when the group is large, the venues are scattered, or the sessions end late.
Which vehicle fits which group

Count seats for people first, then think about what rides with them. A 26-person group with large suitcases and drums may be more comfortable in a full-size coach than a Coaster, because the luggage bay is bigger and the aisle stays clear. The venue gate: what actually happens
The organisers ask spectators to use public transport. Shuttle buses, accessible shuttles, park-and-bus-ride and limited parking exist only at certain venues. A private coach therefore needs a pre-arranged drop-off or parking point. The charter operator handles that coordination, but nobody can promise a specific bay at a specific gate.
Plan for three distinct modes:
- Drop. The coach stops, everyone gets off, the coach leaves. Fast, but the group walks the last stretch.
- Wait. The coach holds nearby for a short session, then collects you. Costs hours of driver time.
- Park. The coach parks for the whole session. Only possible where the venue or a nearby lot has space.
The consequence matters: if the coach cannot park at the venue, the group walks, sometimes 10 to 15 minutes, so agree the drop-off and pickup points the day before and brief everyone with a map. For the opening and closing ceremonies, add ID-check time on top, because every person in the party must be registered and is checked at entry.
Booking timeline that avoids surprises

General ticket sales opened on 30 June 2026 and continue first-come-first-served until each session date while seats remain. Coaches in Aichi during the Games are a finite pool, so the earlier you send the quote request, the wider the choice of vehicle.
Where the money goes
Charter pricing depends on hours, distance, expressway tolls (paid by ETC), parking fees, and the driver's meals and accommodation on overnight trips. There is one published reference figure on our blog: a 12-hour, 45 to 50-seat coach from Nagoya is roughly ¥120,000 to ¥220,000. Treat it as an estimate only. Divided across a full coach that is a few thousand yen per person per day, which is why large groups find chartering competitive.
Cost drivers you control:
- Waiting hours. A coach that waits four hours at a venue costs more than one that drops, leaves and returns.
- Distance and tolls. Toyota, Okazaki and Gamagori runs use toll expressways.
- Overnights. Takayama or Shirakawa-go (2.5 to 3 hours by road) means driver accommodation.
- Peak dates. Opening and closing nights and finals weekends are the busiest.
Every other price is by quote. Do not rely on numbers you read elsewhere for buses in Japan; they rarely include tolls and parking.
A sample session day
- 08:30 Pickup at the hotel forecourt, headcount.
- 09:15 Drop at the agreed point near the venue, walk to the gate.
- 10:00 to 13:00 Session.
- 13:30 Coach collects the group, lunch stop.
- 15:00 Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park, or the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology.
- 17:30 Return to hotel, or on to an evening session.

FAQ
Can the coach park at the stadium?
Not guaranteed. Parking at Games venues is limited and reserved for certain categories. The operator arranges a drop-off or parking point in advance, but you should plan for a walk from the drop point to the gate.
How many people fit on one coach?
The largest class seats 44 to 53. Above that, book two vehicles; two coaches also give you a backup if one group runs late leaving a venue.
Do you quote a fixed price online?
No. Bus charters are quoted individually because hours, tolls, parking and overnights change every itinerary. The only published reference is the ¥120,000 to ¥220,000 estimate for a 12-hour full-size coach from Nagoya.
Does the driver speak English?
Drivers are professional Japanese coach drivers; do not assume fluent English. Confirm pickup points, times and the meeting-point photos in writing before the day, and keep on-the-day communication short and simple.
Can we use the coach for sightseeing between sessions?
Yes. Many groups book the coach for the whole day and fill the gaps with Nagoya Castle, Atsuta Jingu, Osu or a run out to Inuyama. Longer trips such as Takayama are better as an overnight.
