Why a driver beats taxis for this

Nagoya taxis are fine on a normal night. On the night of a final, when tens of thousands leave a venue at the same moment and the last trains are around midnight, they are not enough. A pre-booked car with a driver waiting at an agreed point removes the queue at the start of the evening and the scramble at the end.

Between restaurants the driver waits nearby. Because the service is billed in 2-hour minimum blocks, an evening of dinner, drinks and a late bowl of noodles is usually two or three blocks; see the hourly tariff on the service page. Divided among four to six people, and set against three separate taxi rides plus a wait, the maths usually favours the car. And the one point that has no price: with a driver, everyone drinks.

A sample evening

• 18:30: Collect at the agreed pickup point near the venue after an afternoon session, or from your hotel.
• 19:00: Hitsumabushi in Meieki. Book ahead if the group is larger than four; eel restaurants fill early.
• 20:30: Short hop to Sakae. Tebasaki and beer at an izakaya.
• 22:00: Optional kishimen at a noodle shop, or a final drink.
• 22:45: Car to the hotel door.

After a late session

Ceremonies and finals end late and crowds are heavy. The opening ceremony at Paloma Mizuho Stadium on 19 September runs 18:00 to 20:00 and empties the stadium into the Mizuho area at once. If your food evening follows an event like that, agree a pickup point away from the main gate the day before, allow time for the walk to it, and book a restaurant that takes late reservations. Venue vehicle access is restricted and no bay can be promised; the walk is part of the plan.

Dietary notes

Eel, pork and chicken are the core of the four dishes, which is a problem for vegetarian or halal groups. Kishimen with a vegetable topping is the easiest fit. Tell us the group's needs when booking and we will suggest restaurants where everyone eats well rather than one person eating rice.

Do we need reservations?

For hitsumabushi, yes, especially for groups above four. Popular eel restaurants queue and stop taking orders when the eel runs out. Wing izakaya are easier to walk into. Kishimen shops rarely need booking.

How long should we book the car for?

Two or three 2-hour blocks covers most evenings: pickup, two venues, hotel return. Add a block if you start straight from a venue and expect a long walk to the pickup point.

Can the driver recommend restaurants?

Drivers are not guides, but when you book we can suggest places by area and dish and reserve where possible. Tell us what you want to eat and how many you are.

Is the driver waiting the whole time?

Yes, nearby. That is what the blocks pay for. You leave each restaurant when you are ready rather than when a taxi appears.

What if the session runs late?

Message the driver with the new end time; the pickup point does not change. Tell the restaurant too. We suggest choosing a restaurant with late kitchen hours on final and ceremony nights.
