How the hourly blocks work

Chauffeur time is sold in blocks with a 2-hour minimum. A realistic session day looks like this: one hour hotel to venue including the drop-off shuffle, the session itself (the car waits or repositions), and one hour back. If you add a dinner stop in Sakae, add the time you spend at the table. Tolls and parking are charged on top of the time, and expressway tolls in Aichi are paid roads.

When a private car beats taxis and trains

Nagoya has good transit. Nagoya Station is served by the Tokaido Shinkansen, JR, Meitetsu and Kintetsu lines plus two subway lines, and Kanayama is a second hub close to the Mizuho area. For a couple going to one session on a weekday afternoon, the train is cheap and fast. A car earns its keep in these situations:

• Late finishes. Trains run after evening finals, but crowds are heavy and last trains are around midnight. A pre-booked car with a fixed pickup point removes the crush.
• Multi-stop days. Morning session at IG Arena, lunch in Osu, evening baseball at Vantelin Dome. On trains that is three separate navigations with bags.
• Out-of-town venues. Toyota Stadium is roughly 40–60 minutes from Nagoya by road, Okazaki 50–70 minutes, Gamagori 60–80 minutes, all traffic-dependent. Rail connections exist but involve changes.
• Luggage or mobility. Strollers, wheelchairs, a grandmother who walks slowly. Door-to-door matters more than speed.
• Airport days. Centrair sits on an island in Tokoname about 40 km south of the city centre. The Meitetsu Airport Line is quick, but a family with four suitcases often prefers the car.

When the train still wins

Be honest with yourself. If your group is two or three adults, your hotel is near Nagoya Station or Kanayama, and your venue is Paloma Mizuho Stadium or Vantelin Dome on a normal session day, the subway will probably be quicker door to door. Nagoya Dome-mae Yada is right by the Dome, and Kanayama is a short hop from Mizuho. Paying for a car to sit in traffic while you could have been on a platform is not a good use of the budget.

The hybrid plan works well: train for the simple city sessions, private car for the airport run, the late final, and the day trip to Ise or Inuyama.

Venue drop-off: what to expect

Every Asian Games venue has its own access rules, and they are published on the official venue pages, not by us. What we can promise is the process: you tell us the venue and session, the driver checks the current arrangements, and you agree a drop-off and pickup point in advance. What we cannot promise is a bay at the entrance.

For the opening and closing ceremonies at Paloma Mizuho Stadium, every person in the party is registered in advance and ID-checked at entry. Queues are long. Arriving by car does not shorten the queue, so plan the drop-off time around the check, not around the 18:00 start.

Sightseeing between sessions

The car is also how many groups fill rest days. Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park, Atsuta Jingu, the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park are all in the city. Inuyama Castle is about 40 minutes out. Ise Jingu is roughly two hours by road, which makes it a full day but a very good one. FAQ

Is a private car cheaper than taxis for a group of six?

Often, yes, because one Alphard replaces two taxis and the return trip is already covered. But the honest answer depends on hours booked. Check the hourly tariff, add tolls and parking, and compare against your real day, not an ideal one.

Can the driver park at the venue while we watch?

Do not count on it. Limited parking and park-and-ride exist only at certain venues. The usual pattern is drop-off, the driver repositions to a legal waiting spot, and returns to the agreed pickup point at the time you set.

Does the driver speak English?

Drivers are professional Japanese drivers. Many manage basic English, but treat the written itinerary as the main communication tool. Send stop names in Japanese and English if you can.

What about Centrair airport transfers?

Centrair is not on the fixed-price airport transfer list, which covers Narita, Haneda, Kansai and New Chitose. Nagoya airport transfers go through the charter quote form instead.

Can I change the plan on the day?

Within the booked hours, yes: swap a lunch stop or leave a session early. Extending the block depends on the driver's availability and is not guaranteed, so book the hours you might need rather than the minimum.
