Why Games weeks cost more than a normal September

Demand. Between 19 September and 4 October, and again for the Asian Para Games from 18 to 24 October, coaches in Aichi are wanted by supporter groups, schools, corporate hospitality parties, media crews and delegations' followers, on top of the normal autumn tourism season. Fewer vehicles available for the same dates means less room to negotiate and a higher chance that your preferred vehicle class is gone.

We cannot tell you a percentage uplift because we have not measured one. What we can say is that a group booking early gets a choice of vehicle and a firm plan, and a group booking late gets whatever is left.

Ways to bring the price down without wrecking the plan

Do not cut the buffer hours. A booking that ends exactly at the scheduled end of a session leaves no room for a medal ceremony or a slow exit, and overtime is rarely cheaper than planning the hour in the first place.

What to send for an accurate quote

A vague request gets a vague range. Send:

• Dates, one line per day
• Pickup point (hotel name and address) and time
• Venues with session times, or attractions with planned durations
• Headcount, including children
• Luggage or equipment: flags, drums, cases, wheelchairs
• Whether the coach should wait, standby or drop and return
• Latest acceptable return time
• Any second hotel or split group

With that, a reply within 24 hours is realistic and the quote will hold. Without it, expect follow-up questions.

Comparing against alternatives

For groups of fewer than ten, a coach is the wrong tool and a private car with driver booked by the hour is the right comparison; the tariff is on that page and we do not quote it in articles. Are tolls and parking included?

They are typically itemised and passed through at cost. Ask for them to be shown separately so you can see how route choices affect the total.

Is a minibus much cheaper than a full-size coach?

We do not publish minibus or Coaster prices. Smaller vehicles are generally quoted lower for the same hours, but the difference is smaller than people expect because the driver's time is the main cost. Right-size for the group and the luggage, then compare quotes.

Does an evening-only booking cost less than a full day?

Yes, because hours are the main driver. A late finish may carry a supplement depending on the operator, so ask for it to be stated.

How early should we book for Games dates?

As early as your session tickets are confirmed. Demand from supporter groups, schools and corporate parties during 19 September to 4 October means late bookers get whatever vehicle is left, at whatever price is left.
