Two people at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 do not need a coach, a group leader or a schedule pinned to a hotel noticeboard. What they usually want is a way to see a session, eat well, and spend a day or two outside the city without the effort of working out trains in a crowd of thousands.
A private car with driver is the two-person version of that. It sounds like an extravagance for a couple. In practice, for a long day to Ise or a late night after a final, it is often the sensible choice, because the alternative is standing on a platform at 22:30 with everyone else. This article lays out a plan built for two: the vehicle, a session day, an evening, an Ise day, and one indulgence in Tokyo before you fly home.
Why a seven-seat Alphard for two people
The Alphard minivan is the standard vehicle for private car hire, and with two passengers it is essentially a lounge on wheels. Bags go in the back, coats stay in the car, and the seats recline. Nobody is choosing the smallest car to save space; the space is the point after a long flight and a long day.
If you want something with a different feel, chauffeured luxury cars are available too, from the Lexus LM to a Rolls-Royce, but for most couples the Alphard is the right balance.
A session day for two
Keep the car for the parts of the day that are unpleasant on foot or by train, and let the rest breathe.
Morning. Pickup at the hotel. If your session is at IG Arena, ask the driver to drop you at Nagoya Castle first: Hommaru Palace and Meijo Park sit beside the arena, and a slow morning there beats waiting in a hotel lobby. For Paloma Mizuho Stadium sessions (athletics 23 to 29 September), Atsuta Jingu makes a similar quiet start not far away.
Midday. Lunch somewhere you choose, not the nearest place to the station. Osu arcade for something quick and lively, Sakae for something more considered.
Afternoon. Drop at the agreed point near the venue. Private cars cannot wait at the gate, so expect a short walk, and agree the pickup pin before you go in.
Session. The car is not part of this bit. Enjoy it.
The evening: dinner, not a platform
After an evening session, the difference between a couple with a car and a couple without one is about ninety minutes. One pair walks to the pickup point, gets driven to a restaurant they booked earlier, eats, and is at the hotel by midnight. The other pair joins the crowd at the station, waits, changes lines, and eats convenience-store food at the hotel.
Trains do run late, with last services around midnight, but on ceremony and finals nights the stations near venues are heavily crowded. Book dinner in Sakae or near your hotel, tell the driver the address, and let the night finish gently.
The Ise day
Ise Jingu is roughly two hours from Nagoya by road, traffic-dependent, and it is the best full day out for two people who want quiet after the noise of a stadium.
| Time | Plan |
|---|---|
| 08:30 | Pickup; sleep or talk on the expressway south |
| 10:30 | Ise Jingu Outer Shrine, then the Inner Shrine through the forest |
| 13:00 | Lunch on the pilgrim street outside the Inner Shrine |
| 14:30 | Toba for the bay, or Shima for a quieter coast |
| 17:30 | Drive back; dinner in Nagoya or on the way |
Alternatives for a second free day: Inuyama Castle, a national treasure about 40 minutes from the city, with Gifu's cormorant fishing in the evening if you are there before mid-October; or the Kiso Valley post towns of Magome and Tsumago, one and a half to two hours away, for a walk between them.
Hourly logic for a couple
Private cars with driver are booked in two-hour minimum blocks, and the tariff is on the hourly page. For two people the maths is simple: a short block for the session-day edges, a long block for Ise. There is no per-person pricing, so a couple pays the same as a family of five in the same car. That is worth knowing, and it is why some couples use the car only for the long day and the late night rather than every hour of the trip.
Tolls on the expressways are included in the quote. We do not repeat figures in articles.
The Tokyo indulgence: a night flight over the city
Helicopter flights operate from Tokyo, the Mt Fuji region and Yokohama. There is no helicopter product in Nagoya, so this is an add-on for the start or end of your trip, with Tokyo about 1h40 from Nagoya by Shinkansen.
For a couple, the Tokyo Skytree night flight is the natural pick: 22 minutes over the lit-up city from ¥151,200 per person (¥165,200 on weekends and holidays) for one seat on a shared three-seat flight; if you want the whole aircraft as a private charter, so it is just the two of you and the pilot, it is ¥408,300 (¥446,100 on weekends and holidays). If you would rather have a longer evening, the Tokyo twin towers night flight is 25 minutes from ¥172,200 per person (¥184,800 on weekends and holidays), or ¥465,000 (¥499,000 on weekends and holidays) for the whole aircraft as a private charter. Weight limit is 120 kg per seat with a cabin total of 220 kg for three seats; weather cancellations are refunded in full or moved free; date changes are free up to four days before; payment is online at booking; and the time shown is the meeting time, with the flight about 30 minutes later.
Weather note
Late September and early October are warm and humid at 20 to 30 °C, and typhoon season is not over. Pack for rain, and treat the Ise day as movable if a storm comes through. The helicopter flights are the most weather-sensitive item, which is exactly why the free date change exists.
How to book with OlaChill
Send your session date, hotel and the days you want the car through the private car by the hour page and we will confirm a driver and timings within 24 hours. For the Tokyo evening, the Tokyo Skytree night helicopter flight is booked and paid online, and if you would like a different car for the trip, the chauffeured luxury car page lists the vehicles available.
FAQ
Is a private car excessive for just two people?
For every hour of the trip, yes. For the Ise day and the late night after an evening session, it is the difference between a relaxed evening and a crowded platform. Most couples use it selectively.
Can we be dropped right at the venue entrance?
No. Private vehicles need pre-arranged drop-off and cannot wait at the gate. Expect a short walk from an agreed point, and set the pickup pin before you go in.
How far is Ise from Nagoya?
About two hours by road each way, traffic-dependent. It is a full day; do not combine it with a session.
Is there a helicopter flight in Nagoya?
No. Flights operate from Tokyo, Mt Fuji and Yokohama. Tokyo is roughly 1h40 by Shinkansen, so add the flight to the Tokyo end of your trip.
What happens if the helicopter flight is cancelled for weather?
You receive a full refund or a free change of date. Date changes for other reasons are free up to four days before the flight.
