The Toride Tone River Fireworks is a major summer tradition in Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture, attracting around 120,000 spectators every year. Around 10,000 fireworks and a fantastic drone show vividly illuminate the magnificent night sky over the Tone River.
Event Overview
The Toride Tone River Fireworks began in 1930 (Showa 5) to commemorate the opening of the O Tone Bridge and will celebrate its 71st edition in 2026. A wide variety of fireworks, including wide starmines, large-shell fireworks, and Chinese fireworks, light up the sky. In recent years, the event has also featured a drone show, with the collaboration between the drones and fireworks becoming one of its main highlights.
