How the hourly booking works

Private cars with driver are booked in two-hour minimum blocks, and the tariff is on the hourly page. For a commute there are two ways to structure the day:

Option A: two transfers. The driver takes you to the venue in the morning and collects you at an agreed point after the session. You pay for the travel time in each direction plus any waiting the driver is asked to do.

Option B: the car all day. One continuous booking. The driver stays available between sessions for lunch, a museum or a second venue. This suits families with children who tire, or groups following two sports on one day.

Ask for both structures to be priced; the difference is often smaller than expected once you add the cost of moving around Nagoya by taxi in the middle of the day.

Driver hours set a real limit

Drivers work a day, not a shift that stretches indefinitely. A commute that starts at 07:00 in Hamamatsu and ends after a 22:00 finish at Vantelin Dome is a very long day for one person. On a multi-day booking, the operator may propose a second driver for late nights, or split the booking so the morning and evening runs are separate. This affects the quote, which is why we ask for your full session schedule before pricing.

Long days also mean the driver's meals are part of the cost structure, exactly as with coach hire. Nothing is hidden; it simply needs to be in the plan.

A realistic commute day

Take a family in Gifu with tickets for an afternoon athletics session at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in the 23 to 29 September window.

1. 10:30 hotel pickup, drive to Nagoya. Stop at Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park for a walk and lunch nearby.
2. 13:30 drop at the agreed point for the stadium. The driver confirms the evening pickup pin.
3. Session. The driver repositions and waits outside the restricted area.
4. Post-session pickup, a short ride to dinner in Sakae, then the expressway back to Gifu.

Compare that with the train version: hotel to Gifu station, change at Nagoya Station, Kanayama hub, a walk to the stadium, and the reverse in heavy post-event crowds with last trains around midnight. Both work. Only one of them lets a six-year-old sleep on the way home.

When the train is the better answer

If you are one or two adults with no luggage, staying near a station with a direct line into Nagoya, and attending morning sessions in the city, the train is cheaper and perfectly good. The car case is strongest for groups of four or more, families, anyone attending late finals, and anyone whose venue is outside Nagoya.

Rain and typhoon season

Late September and early October are warm and humid, 20 to 30 °C, and typhoon season is not finished. A car means umbrellas stay in the boot and a sudden downpour does not become a soaked platform wait. It also means that if a session is rescheduled because of weather, the driver can be rebooked; check the official schedule for any changes rather than assuming.

FAQ

How long is the drive from Gifu or Hamamatsu to the venues?

As a planning figure, allow about 40 to 60 minutes each way to central Nagoya venues, traffic-dependent, and more for venues in Toyota, Okazaki or Gamagori. Confirm with the driver once your exact hotel and venue are known.

Can the same driver do the whole week?

Usually, yes, and continuity helps: the driver learns your hotel, your pace and your preferred pickup points. Very late finishes may require a split booking or a second driver, which we will flag in the quote.

Is it cheaper to book the car all day or just two transfers?

Two transfers bill fewer hours, but the all-day booking removes taxis and waiting in the middle of the day. Ask for both prices with your schedule attached; the tariff is on the hourly page, and we do not quote figures in articles.

What about the Asian Para Games in October?

The same commute logic applies from 18 to 24 October, with venues in Nagoya, Toyota, Okazaki, Ichinomiya, Kariya and Toyohashi. Accessible vehicles should be requested early because availability is limited.
