Two weeks of sport in Nagoya, then a ring over the lights of Tokyo. If that is the plan, here is the practical version: the flight happens in Tokyo or Yokohama, not Nagoya, because that is where our helicopters fly from. The Shinkansen covers Nagoya to Tokyo in about 1 hour 40 minutes, so the proposal slots naturally into the days after the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 close on 4 October, or after the Asian Para Games end on 24 October.
Book the whole aircraft as a private charter and the cabin is yours. On a 3-seat flight that means the two of you and, if you want one, a third person such as a friend with a camera. Nobody else boards.
This guide walks through the night flight options with prices, how to keep the surprise intact, what can and cannot be added through the booking form, and what to do if the weather refuses to cooperate.
Why the private cabin matters
Every helicopter product we list is priced per person, for one seat on a shared flight; the whole aircraft can be booked as a private charter (the seat price times the number of seats, less 10%). For a proposal the private charter is the whole point: you are not sharing with strangers, you choose who is aboard, you choose the moment, and the only other person present is the pilot.
The 3-seat cabins have a 120 kg per-seat limit and a 220 kg total. Two people almost always fit. If you bring a third person to photograph the moment, add their weight to the calculation before booking.
Night flight options for two
| Flight | Departure | Duration | Seats | Per person (shared) | Whole aircraft (private) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tokyo Skytree Night | Funabashi Heliport, Chiba | 22 min | 3 | ¥151,200–¥165,200 | ¥408,300–¥446,100 |
| Tokyo Twin Towers Night | Funabashi Heliport, Chiba | 25 min | 3 | ¥172,200–¥184,800 | ¥465,000–¥499,000 |
| Saitama Misato Night Cruise | Misato Heliport, Saitama | 18 min | 3 | ¥156,800–¥169,400 | ¥423,400–¥457,400 |
| Yokohama Night Cruise | Yokohama | 40 min | 3 | ¥254,800–¥268,800 | ¥688,000–¥725,800 |
| Tokyo Sunset and Night | Tokyo Heliport, Shin-Kiba | 30 min | 5 | ¥485,100 | ¥2,183,000 |
Where two figures are shown, the lower is the weekday price and the higher applies on weekends and holidays. Per person means one seat on a shared flight; the private charter is the whole aircraft.
For most couples the choice is between the 25-minute Twin Towers Night flight in Tokyo and the 40-minute Yokohama Night Cruise. The Tokyo flight is shorter and cheaper and leaves you in the capital for dinner afterwards. Yokohama gives you nearly twice the time in the air over a harbour city, which suits people who want the moment to feel unhurried.
The 5-seat Sunset and Night flight is there if family are in on the plan and want to be aboard. Otherwise a 3-seat cabin is more intimate and costs less.
Keeping the surprise
A few things that help:
- The time on the product page is the meeting time. The flight leaves roughly 30 minutes later, after check-in, weigh-in and briefing. Frame the evening as "we have a booking at a place near the bay" rather than a helicopter, and arrive with time to spare.
- Weigh-in is part of the briefing. If the person you are asking does not know about the flight until the heliport, that is fine; you will have entered approximate weights at booking and the operator confirms on the day.
- Keep the ring on you, in a pocket that closes. The briefing covers loose items, and you do not want to be explaining a small box to a crew member in front of them.
- Decide when in the flight you will ask. Early leaves time to enjoy the answer; late means the landing comes quickly after. Many people choose the middle, once the city is fully beneath you.
Flowers, a photographer and other requests
The booking form has a notes field, and this is where a proposal request goes. Common asks:
- Flowers waiting at the heliport on landing.
- A photographer on the ground at departure and return.
- A specific seat position for the person being asked.
We will tell you honestly what can be arranged for your date and location. Arrangements differ between Shin-Kiba, Funabashi Heliport in Chiba, the Mt Fuji region and Yokohama, and some things are simply not possible at a working heliport. Anything that is arranged is priced separately from the flight, and we confirm it in writing before you rely on it. Please do not assume an add-on is included because you wrote it in the notes; wait for the confirmation.
A friend in the third seat with a phone is the most reliable photographer. Ask at the briefing about window positions and turn the flash off.
Where it fits in the trip
Do not put the flight on the evening of the closing ceremony. The ceremony is in Nagoya on 4 October, it ends late, trains are crowded and last trains run around midnight; the Shinkansen and the onward journey to the heliport do not fit after that (the two 3-seat Tokyo night flights leave from Funabashi Heliport on the Chiba side of Tokyo Bay, so allow time to cross from central Tokyo; the 5-seat Sunset and Night flight leaves from Shin-Kiba). Take the train on 5 October, settle into a Tokyo hotel, and fly that evening or the next.
Sunset shifts earlier through late September and October. Check the sunset time for your date, then choose a meeting slot that puts you in the air after dark if you want the full lights, or around dusk if you want colour in the sky. We do not print sunset times because they change daily.
If the Games are the reason for the trip and the proposal is the finale, keep one spare evening after the flight date. That is your weather insurance.
If the weather says no
- If the operator cancels for weather, you receive a full refund or a free date change.
- You can change the date yourself for free up to 4 days before the flight.
- Payment is online at booking, so nothing is due at the heliport.
A spare evening turns a cancelled flight into a postponed one instead of a lost one. Have a backup plan for the question itself, too. A rooftop or a quiet restaurant is a fine place to ask if the sky closes in; the flight can still happen the next day as a celebration.
A daytime alternative
If a night flight does not suit, the 75-minute Mt Fuji and Hakone Scenic flight at ¥641,900 per person (one seat on a shared three-seat flight; the whole aircraft as a private charter is ¥1,733,200) is the daytime option people choose for a big moment. It departs from the Mt Fuji region, not Tokyo, so it needs a different travel plan and a morning slot. Cloud on the summit is possible even on a flyable day, so treat the mountain as a bonus rather than a guarantee.
How to book with OlaChill
Choose your flight on the Tokyo night helicopter flights page or book the 25-minute Twin Towers Night flight directly; for the longer harbour option see the Yokohama Night Cruise. Pay online, then use the notes field for any proposal requests and we will confirm what is possible.
FAQ
Will there be strangers in the helicopter?
Not if you book the whole aircraft as a private charter: then only your party and the pilot are aboard. On a 3-seat flight that is you two and one optional guest. A per-person seat is on a shared flight.
Can OlaChill arrange flowers or a photographer?
Sometimes, depending on the heliport and the date. Write the request in the booking form; we confirm in writing what can be done and what it costs before you count on it. Nothing is included by default beyond the flight.
Which flight is best for a proposal?
For two people, the 25-minute Tokyo Twin Towers Night flight from ¥172,200 per person (¥184,800 on weekends and holidays; ¥465,000–¥499,000 for the whole aircraft as a private charter) or the 40-minute Yokohama Night Cruise from ¥254,800 per person (¥268,800 on weekends and holidays; ¥688,000–¥725,800 private). Pick Tokyo for convenience and dinner afterwards, Yokohama for the longest time in the air.
What if it rains on the night?
A weather cancellation means a full refund or a free new date. Keep a spare evening in your plan so the flight can move rather than disappear, and have a ground-level backup for the question itself.
Can we do this from Nagoya during the Games?
No. Our helicopter flights operate only from Tokyo, Funabashi on the Chiba side of Tokyo Bay, the Mt Fuji region and Yokohama. Plan it for Tokyo after your last Games session; the Shinkansen takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.
