Not every evening in Nagoya needs a stadium. The Nagashima resort area in Kuwana, across the prefectural border in Mie, gathers three very different attractions on one site: Nagashima Spa Land, an outlet mall, and the flower park Nabana no Sato, famous for its seasonal illumination. A private car with a waiting driver makes it an easy evening after a daytime Asian Games session.
One caution before anything else: the Nabana no Sato illumination usually starts in mid to late October. The Asian Games run 19 September to 4 October, so for most Games visitors it will not have started. Check the dates before you promise your group a light show. During the Asian Para Games, 18 to 24 October, you may catch the opening days; again, check.
What is in the Nagashima area
Three things sit close together, and the car lets you pick any combination:

The mall and the flower park are the low-risk pairing for an evening. The amusement park needs more time and daylight.
Why the driver waits
This is an evening trip with shopping bags and tired legs at the end of it. A car that waits means you leave when you are ready, not when the last shuttle or train goes, and the bags ride home in the boot rather than on your lap. The hourly chauffeur service is booked in 2-hour minimum blocks, so an evening of four to six hours is two or three blocks; see the tariff on the service page. The waiting time is part of what you are buying, and for a group of four to six splitting the car it is what makes the evening relaxed.
A template evening
- 14:30: Pickup from the venue after a daytime session, or from your hotel.
- 15:30: Arrive at the Nagashima area; the driver drops you at the mall entrance and agrees a meeting point.
- 15:30 to 17:30: Outlet shopping. Bags go straight to the car at the meeting point.
- 17:30: Short hop to Nabana no Sato. In illumination season the point is to arrive before dark and watch the lights come on.
- 17:45 to 20:00: Flower park, dinner inside the park or nearby.
- 20:15: Depart. Back at a Nagoya hotel around 21:00, traffic-dependent.
If the illumination has not started on your date, Nabana no Sato is still a flower park with restaurants; decide in advance whether that is enough for your group or whether you would rather spend the extra time at the mall or head back for dinner in Sakae.
Pairing with a daytime session
The Nagashima area is west of Nagoya, so it pairs most naturally with sessions in the city itself. From Paloma Mizuho Stadium (athletics 23 to 29 September), IG Arena beside Nagoya Castle, Vantelin Dome Nagoya or the Nippon Gaishi Hall complex, the driver collects you at the agreed point and heads out. Road time depends on where you start and on the traffic that day; treat it as flexible and let the mall absorb any delay.
Venue vehicle access is restricted and no bay can be promised, so choose the pickup point the day before and pick one away from the busiest exit.
Rain and wind
Late September and early October are warm and humid, 20 to 30 °C, and still inside typhoon season. The outlet mall does not care about weather. The amusement park does; rides may stop in rain or high wind. The illumination, where running, is an outdoor walk, so a light rain jacket in the car is sensible. If a typhoon warning is in force, we would suggest moving the evening and checking the official schedule for any changes to your session too.

Will the Nabana no Sato illumination be on during the Asian Games?
Usually not. It typically starts in mid to late October, after the Games end on 4 October. Check the dates before you plan around it. Asian Para Games visitors from 18 to 24 October have a better chance.
How long is the evening?

Is the area suitable for children after a long day?
Yes, with the car as a rest base. Children can nap on the drive out and back, and the flower park is flat, easy walking. Skip the amusement park unless the children have energy left.
What about the outlet mall's closing time?
Check on the day. Closing times vary by season, and the driver will plan the mall stop first so it is not cut short.
