Mt Fuji hides. Late September and early October are warm and humid, with temperatures of 20 to 30 °C, and cloud around the summit is common even on days when the lowlands are bright. A two-hour flight increases your chances of a clear window compared with a short one, but it does not guarantee one.
Weather is also the main operational risk. The operator decides on safety grounds; if the flight is cancelled you receive a full refund or a free change of date. With a booking of this size, treat the spare day as compulsory rather than optional.
Fitting it around the Games
The Games run from 19 September to 4 October, with the Para Games from 18 to 24 October. A four-person group at the closing ceremony could take the Shinkansen to Tokyo on 5 October, fly the grand circuit on 6 October, keep 7 October free for weather and depart on 8 October.
Voluntary date changes are free up to 4 days before the flight. For a 6 October flight that means deciding by 2 October. Given the price, book only once all passengers are certain; on a private charter the whole-aircraft price does not fall if one drops out.
Weight and seats
