Held every autumn in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, the Ibusuki Onsen Festival Fireworks is a popular event that vividly illuminates the tropical night sky. Around 5,000 fireworks are launched over the water from Ibusuki Port, their beauty enhanced by the crisp autumn air. As the grand finale of the historic Ibusuki Onsen Festival, which expresses gratitude for the area's abundant hot springs, the fireworks display captivates large crowds.

The 79th Ibusuki Onsen Festival Fireworks in 2026 will be held on the following date. Be sure to enjoy the climax of this festival celebrating Ibusuki's abundant hot springs.

Access

From Kagoshima-Chuo Station, Ibusuki Station is approximately 50 minutes away by the limited express Ibusuki no Tamatebako, or approximately 80 minutes by local train. The area around Ibusuki Station gets extremely crowded after the fireworks display, so allow plenty of time for your journey home and be sure to check the time of the last JR train.
By car Ibusuki can be reached in approximately 60 minutes from the Kagoshima IC on the Kyushu Expressway via National Route 226. Traffic restrictions may be implemented around the venue on the day of the event. Free parking will be available for approximately 300 vehicles in total at the Ibusuki City Hall parking lot and Tanba Elementary School. Free shuttle buses are scheduled to run temporarily from the Ibusuki City Hall parking lot to a location near the venue between 16:00~21:30. Using the shuttle bus is recommended to avoid congestion around the venue.
Reserved Seating and Tickets
For the 2026 Ibusuki Onsen Festival Fireworks, no reserved viewing areas are scheduled to be set up. Therefore, advance ticket purchases are not necessary. You can enjoy the fireworks free of charge at the main venue, Central Park Ibusuki, or at one of the lesser-known viewing spots described below.

Uomidake Park From Uomidake Park, situated on a hilltop at an elevation of 215m, you can take in spectacular views of Kinko Bay, Mount Kaimondake, and Ibusuki city. Although it is somewhat removed from the venue, it consequently attracts fewer people, allowing you to watch the fireworks in a calm atmosphere. It is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy the fireworks illuminating Ibusuki's night sky while watching the scenery transition from sunset to the city lights.
The coastline around Ibusuki Port (a little away from the main venue) Central Park Ibusuki, the main venue, becomes extremely lively, but there are several spots along the coastline around Ibusuki Port where you can see the fireworks from a little farther away. At Ibusuki Port Beach, which is close to the launch site, you can experience the impact and sound of the fireworks up close. If you want to avoid the crowds while still enjoying the unique atmosphere of fireworks over the water, consider moving a short distance from the main venue to find your own viewing spot.
Open areas around Ibusuki Station JR Ibusuki Station is conveniently located approximately a 5-minute walk from the main venue. There are relatively open areas around the station where you may be able to see the fireworks in the distance. For those who prioritize access by train and want to take the crowds on the way home into consideration, watching from a spot near the station is another option. However, buildings and other obstructions may block your view, so checking the location in advance is recommended.
