How it runs

130 minutes: a compact loop on the stone-paved lanes of Higashiyama, past Yasaka Pagoda and Yasaka Shrine.
245 minutes: sets off along Nene-no-Michi, circles the Kenninji area and rolls through Gion's hanamachi, with the puller pointing out Rokudo Chinno-ji, a temple known for its mysterious legends.
370 minutes: cobblestones, Yasaka Pagoda and Kenninji, then deep into Gion's geisha quarter — the Kyoto you know from films and magazines.

Good to know

Meeting point: Ichinenzaka, in front of Kodaiji Temple. From Kyoto Station take city bus 206 to Higashiyama Yasui and walk 5 minutes east; from Kawaramachi or Gion-Shijo, bus 207 stops at the same place. A taxi from Kyoto Station takes about 15 minutes.
Rickshaws run roughly 10:00–17:00, with hours shifting by season; on busy days you may wait a little for a free one.
Each rickshaw seats two adults, so a party of three rides in two — the 3-person price already reflects that. Children up to 5 ride free on a grown-up's lap; from 6 they count as passengers.
For safety the pullers may split a pair across two rickshaws because of size or weight; any difference is paid on the spot. Pregnant guests can ride from 17 weeks, not earlier.
The fare is for the ride. Admission to temples or shrines you stop at is extra.
