Adult plans from ¥4,000 at the shop (kids from ¥3,000); booking online takes 10% off. OlaChill has 2 locations: Tokyo Asakusa (next to Sensoji) and Kyoto Kiyomizu (at the bottom of the slope to Kiyomizu-dera). All plans include a complete set of accessories and assisted dressing; hairstyling is NOT included in the plan price and costs extra at the shop. In addition to these two shops, the inventory also includes plans from other shops in Tokyo and Kyoto.
Aiwafuku (insurance included)
Prices from ¥3,500. 9 branches (Tokyo 3 + Kyoto 6). Insurance is included in the plan, so you do not have to worry about tears. Hair styling is free. Quality is similar to OlaChill. Choose this option if: you are traveling with children, are worried about tearing or staining the kimono, or are booking for a large group.
VASARA (largest chain)
Prices from ¥3,850. 11 branches across Japan. Hair set costs extra (+¥1,650–¥2,200). Insurance included. High-quality service. Choose this company when: visiting multiple cities (Tokyo + Kyoto + Nagoya...), or wanting a major brand for peace of mind.
Kyoto Kimono Rental Yume-Yakata
Available only in Kyoto. Prices from ¥3,900. More classic patterns, making it suitable for those who prefer an authentic traditional Kyoto style. Hair styling +¥550-¥1,650. Smaller than OlaChill, but because it focuses 100% on Kyoto, its Kyoto-style kimono quality is slightly better.
