The camping edition of our Kamikochi–Hakuba tour: day one stops at Matsumoto Castle before entering the valley — Taisho Pond, Kappa Bridge, the Azusa river — and that night you sleep in a TENT at the Konashidaira campground under the larch forest; a 2-person tent, sleeping bags and a lamp are provided. Next morning it's Myojin, then over to Hakuba for the Happo gondola above the three peaks in full autumn colour, and home in the evening. A night in the Alps without carrying a single piece of gear.
