A National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (通訳案内士) has passed Japan's national examination, tested on both foreign-language ability and Japanese geography, history and culture. Unlike an interpreter, who faithfully relays what someone else says, a guide leads: choosing stops, telling the story behind them, and handling whatever the day throws up.
Since a 2018 law change, unlicensed guides may also work paid tours, so both kinds exist on the market — the national licence remains the highest trust mark, especially for corporate groups and travelers who want real depth. When you send a request above, OlaChill acts as the bridge: we match a guide in our network to your language and itinerary, and the quote states the guide's licence status plainly — you know who you are hiring before you pay.
Within 24 hours by email: your guide's name and the meeting point. Nothing is charged in advance — you pay the guide when you meet.
If you need a nationally licensed guide-interpreter (通訳案内士), say so in the notes — OlaChill verifies the licence before quoting. For casual needs we can also match experienced interpreters/escorts at a lower cost.
4-hour frame: ¥25,000 · 8-hour frame: ¥45,000 — guide fee for your whole group. Transport, admissions and the guide's meals are extra (at cost, itemised in the quote). Multi-day or special requests: custom quote.
Free until OlaChill sends your guide confirmation email. After that, the cancellation terms written in that email apply — just reply to the email.
