Overview

Togetsutei has operated beside Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama since 1897 and is known first for its Kyoto kaiseki. Guests stay in two linked wings: the riverside Hekisenkaku, whose upper-floor rooms look across the Oi River to Mt. Ogura and include open-air bath rooms, and the hillside Shuzankaku with hinoki-bath rooms and the main baths. The Arashiyama Onsen water is a mild alkaline simple spring, and a private bath can be booked. Breakfast features yudofu from Morika, a local tofu maker. Tenryu-ji, the bamboo grove and the Hozu river boats are within walking distance; English-speaking staff are available.
