Tocen Goshobo

Goshobo sits in the centre of Arima Onsen beside the Taki river and describes itself as the town's oldest inn, founded in the Kamakura period as 'Yuguchiya'. Its 16 rooms are all different, grouped in three wings, from compact standard rooms facing an inner garden to two 130 m² premium suites with their own gold-spring tubs; several rooms are linked to writers such as Tanizaki Jun'ichiro and Yoshikawa Eiji. The main bath uses free-flowing iron-rich kinsen, and a private bath can be booked for a fee. Dinner is a seasonal kaiseki featuring Tajima beef, Akashi fish and the inn's own organic rice.

In the centre of Arima Onsen. Cars park at the separate Arimari car park near the ropeway station, with transfer to the inn until 18:00; pick-up from Arima Onsen Station on request by phone. Contracted taxis from Shin-Kobe, Sannomiya, Kansai and Kobe airports can be arranged in advance.
