Overview

Hyoe Koyokaku traces its history back some 700 years and says its name was given by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It is one of the biggest inns in Arima, a short walk from the station. Three bathhouses - a Japanese-style bath, a Roman-style bath with views over the northern hills and a 9th-floor garden bath in old toji style - all use the rust-coloured Kinsen water, plus two bookable private open-air baths. Rooms are mostly tatami, with bedrooms, twins, 10-person rooms and a few top-floor rooms with open-air baths. Dinner is seasonal kaiseki (restaurant or in room), charcoal-grill kaiseki or a buffet. English, Korean and Chinese pages are available.
