Overview

Taenoyu opened in 1952 in Nyuto Onsenkyo, the cluster of seven hot-spring inns in the beech forest of Towada-Hachimantai National Park. Two of its own naturally flowing springs, the clear Gin-no-yu and the cloudy, acidic Kin-no-yu, run free-flowing into eight tubs, including open-air pools, mixed baths with women-only hours and towel wraps allowed, and a private bath that staying guests use free. Rooms, several renovated in 2020-2023, all have toilets and include a riverside special room and twins. Dinner features Akita dishes such as kiritanpo hot pot with Hinai chicken stock. An English booking page accepts overseas addresses.
