Overview
KAI Tsugaru is at Owani Onsen, a long-established spa about thirty minutes by car south of Hirosaki, with a free reservable shuttle from JR Owani-Onsen Station. Rooms are decorated with symmetrical kogin embroidery patterns from Tsugaru. The indoor bath is built of Aomori hiba cypress and floats apples in season, while the outdoor bath sits under an arched 'kamakura' roof looking across a water garden lit with Neputa lanterns, especially striking in snow.
