Ryokan Motonago

Motonago occupies a machiya built around 1905 on the stone-paved Nene-no-michi, between Kodaiji and the lanes leading to Kiyomizu-dera, with Gion and Maruyama Park a short walk north. The two-storey wooden building has 11 Japanese rooms, one opening onto a small garden; some have their own bath and toilet while others share facilities. There is no hot spring, but a private bath can be reserved. Dinner is a monthly Kyoto-style kaiseki served in the room, and breakfast features yudofu. The website is available in nine languages, and rates are published openly.
