Hotel Ichii

Hotel Ichii traces its founding to the Edo period and sits directly on Yubatake, Kusatsu's landmark hot-water channel. Rooms are spread over a main building, annex and west wing: 20 Japanese rooms and three top-floor Executive Rooms look straight onto Yubatake, others face the town or mountains, and suites take up to six. The large indoor bath uses the milky Shirahata source, one of the few available only to inns around Yubatake, while the open-air bath uses the highly acidic Bandaiko source. Dinner is a buffet with live kitchen in the annex or a Japanese course with teppanyaki in a Taisho-style dining room.
