Overview
KAI Matsumoto is in Asama Onsen, a spa once used by the lords of Matsumoto Castle, about fifteen minutes by car from Matsumoto Station. The inn completed a full renovation on 4 August 2026. Its public baths offer thirteen ways to soak, from a garden outdoor bath to a radiant lounger bath, hinoki sawdust bath and sauna. Dinner is an Italian course matched with Nagano wines, and a vegetarian version is available with notice. Local-style rooms come with analogue record players, reflecting Matsumoto's music culture, and live lobby concerts are held in the evening. Junior Suites have a private garden terrace with an open-air onsen bath.
