Overview

KAI Kaga faces the Soyu public bathhouse in the middle of Yamashiro Onsen, about ten minutes by car from Kaga-Onsen Station. Its front building, with red bengara lattices, is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Rooms are dressed with Kaga yuzen silk and mizuhiki cord, and tea is served in Kutani ware. Public baths feature Kutani tile panels by eight artists, and guests can also use the Ko-Soyu, a restored Meiji-era bathhouse, free of charge. Dinner is a seasonal kaiseki paired with Kutani tableware, including nodoguro and winter crab. Staff perform an arranged version of the Kaga lion dance in the lobby.
