Overview

Hanafubuki occupies about 15,500 m² of forest at Jogasaki in Izu Kogen, a short walk from Izu-Kogen Station. Its 20 rooms sit in five wooden lodges, each with a different character, from two-person modern Japanese rooms with beds to group rooms for up to five. Most rooms have no bath of their own; instead there are nine private baths among the trees, open without booking around the clock, most filled 100% from a sulfate-chloride source. Dinner is seasonal kaiseki using Izu seafood, served in dining houses overlooking the woods, with breakfast choices including dried fish or rice porridge.

Why stay here

  • Nine private baths in the forest, free and unbooked, most fed with flowing source water
  • Traditional all-wood lodges set in a large wooded garden near Jogasaki coast
  • Seasonal kaiseki with Izu kinmedai and spiny lobster options
