About this experience
Drive across the Shibuya Scramble Crossing when the lights change, then up to Harajuku and along the zelkova-lined Omotesando before looping back. The compact one-hour route with the most start times of the day, every hour from 10:00 to 20:00, so it fits around the rest of your plans.
The Scramble Crossing is Tokyo's most photographed intersection: when the lights turn, every direction walks at once. In a kart you wait at the same lights as the buses and taxis, then cross with the traffic while the screens flash overhead.
From the Shibuya start the route goes through the crossing, climbs toward Harajuku and runs along Omotesando, the avenue of zelkova trees and flagship stores, before turning back down into Shibuya. It is a compact loop, so almost all of the hour is spent in the neighbourhood rather than getting to it. Starts run every hour from 10:00 to 20:00.
It suits a first visit to Tokyo: the most famous crossing, the fashion streets of Harajuku and a start time that fits whatever else you have planned that day.
Shibuya has plenty to fill the rest of the day: the Shibuya Sky observation deck next to the crossing, the Hachiko statue, Miyashita Park's rooftop, and a walk up Takeshita Street in Harajuku. With a start every hour, you can fit the drive around a lunch or a dinner booking.
