Access

Using public transportation is strongly recommended when traveling to the Kamegawa Summer Festival.

• By train The venue is about a 5-minute walk from Kamegawa Station on the JR Nippo Main Line. Additional special trains may operate from JR Kamegawa Station on the day of the festival, so be sure to check in advance. Kamegawa Station is two stops from Beppu Station.

• By car The venue is about 10 minutes by car from the Beppu Interchange on the Oita Expressway, or about 15 minutes from the Hayami Interchange on the Oita Expressway. Free parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles is available around the venue, but the surrounding roads are expected to be extremely congested on the day of the festival. Please do not park illegally, and consider using public transportation.

• Be aware of the last train JR Kamegawa Station is expected to be extremely crowded after the fireworks end. Allow plenty of time and check the last train schedule in advance.

Reserved Seating and Tickets

No reserved seating is planned for the 2026 Kamegawa Summer Festival. All areas offer free viewing of the fireworks. If you want to watch from a good location, you will need to claim your spot early.

Lesser-Known Viewing Spots

The Kamegawa Summer Festival fireworks are especially spectacular because they are launched close to the fishing port, but there are also several lesser-known spots where you can enjoy the show at a more relaxed pace while avoiding the crowds.

1. Kamegawa Park Observation Deck Located on higher ground a short distance from the venue, this spot offers a sweeping view of the entire fireworks display. It is recommended for those who want to enjoy the full panorama while avoiding the crowds.

2. National Route 10 near Beppu University (mountain-side sidewalk) The mountain-side sidewalk along National Route 10 may offer a relatively calm place to watch the fireworks.

3. Eastern area of Shoningahama Park This park is usually popular with walkers and is also a suitable place to watch the fireworks. It is several kilometers from the venue, but because it is a popular viewing spot, arriving early to secure a place is recommended.

4. Around the northern breakwater of Kamegawa Fishing Port This spot is recommended for those who want to avoid the crowds at the main venue while still experiencing the fireworks up close. The “upside-down fireworks” reflected on the surface of the water are another highlight.

5. Around Sekinoe Beach The area around Sekinoe Beach, a little farther from the venue, is also considered a relatively spacious hidden gem where you can enjoy the fireworks at a leisurely pace.
