Hidden in Kyoto's outer districts lies this peaceful cherry blossom destination, one of the city's best-kept secrets. The experience culminates in viewing the blossoms from a traditional Jukkoku-bune, a former freight boat that once transported goods between Kyoto and Osaka before being repurposed for sightseeing.
After arriving, wander along the water's edge where you'll spot artists at work capturing the landscape on canvas, while others relax beneath the flowering trees in quiet conversation. As spring breezes pick up, petals drift lazily overhead. Perched on a hilltop in Fushimi Ward's Momoyama district, this castle draws springtime crowds from across Kyoto.
