Overview
Nishimuraya Honkan has welcomed guests in the centre of Kinosaki since the Ansei era of the 1850s. Its 29 rooms surround a landscaped garden, and the Hirata-kan annex, designed in 1960 by sukiya master Hirata Masaya, is a registered cultural property. Room choices run from 8-mat Japanese rooms to renovated suites with open-air or semi-open-air baths filled with heated water, as Kinosaki reserves onsen water for shared baths. The inn's three public baths are cypress-lined Kichi-no-yu, Chinese-inspired Fuku-no-yu and garden-facing Nao-no-yu. Seasonal kaiseki features Tajima beef and, from November to March, Matsuba crab. Guests must be 10 or older.
