THE KUKUNA

THE KUKUNA stands on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi and faces Mt Fuji across the water, so every room has the lake-and-Fuji view, with 'upside-down Fuji' reflections on calm days. Rooms mix resort styling with tatami: day beds and sofas on tatami floors, twin-bed rooms with a tatami area, and terrace rooms with their own onsen bath. Two panoramic view baths have open-air tubs and saunas, and a private bath can be booked. Dining covers a Western-based main restaurant with half-buffet, teppanyaki, a sushi counter and a private dining room, alongside wine from the hotel's own Katsunuma winery.
