Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan

Kachoan sits in central Takayama, a minute's walk from Takayama Jinya and the red Nakabashi bridge and three minutes from the old merchant streets. It offers 18 room types, among them 13 suites of about 60 m² with Japanese rooms, beds and hinoki or jacuzzi baths, and two garden rooms with semi-open-air baths. Guests use the Takayama Onsen indoor bath, the rooftop baths of sister inn Kofukan, and a women-only bath inside a converted storehouse. Dinner is Hida kaiseki served in private dining rooms, and the ground floor houses the sushi bar Sushicho.
