Overview

Ginzanso is a reinforced-concrete ryokan at the mouth of the Ginzan valley, a five-minute walk from the Taisho-era onsen street. All standard Japanese rooms face the Ginzan River, and three room types added in 2024 have semi-outdoor baths, including a suite with a ceramic tub and a hiba-wood lying bath. The sulphur-containing hot spring feeds men's and women's indoor baths joined to open-air baths, a wooden lying bath and a standing bath, and a low-temperature stone-bed sauna costs extra. Meals of seasonal Yamagata produce are served in a large hall or private dining rooms.
