Sapporo Morning Tour: Shiroi Koibito Park, Okurayama & Market

Enjoy a full five-hour tour of Shiroi Koibito Park, the theme park for Hokkaido's famous Shiroi Koibito sweets; Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium; and the Outer Market, where Hokkaido's finest flavors come together! The first stop is Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium. The facility began when Baron Kichitaro Okura commissioned Norwegian Lieutenant Helseth to design it in 1932 at the request of Prince Chichibu Yasuhito, known as the "Sports Prince." It was renovated in 1970 for the Sapporo Olympics and served as the venue for the 90-meter-class ski jumping event at the 11th Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo. From the observation deck at the 307-meter-high starting point of the ski jump, enjoy a sweeping panorama of Sapporo and the Ishikari Plain beyond the approach. After departing Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, the bus heads to Shiroi Koibito Park. This major tourist attraction includes Chocotopia Factory, where you can tour the production facilities for Hokkaido's famous Shiroi Koibito sweets, and Tudor House, a recreation of a medieval English building. In summer, the park's Rose Garden bursts into bloom with English roses, old roses, and many other varieties. The adjacent Miyanosawa Shiroi Koibito Soccer Stadium also offers views of Consadole Sapporo's training sessions. After exploring Shiroi Koibito Park, the final stop is the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market Outer Market. The market is lined with a wide variety of ingredients gathered from across Hokkaido, including seafood, vegetables, and fruit. Several restaurants serve seafood rice bowls and set meals made with fresh local seafood, and lunch is at your leisure here. After enjoying plenty of delicious food and buying lots of souvenirs, you can also get off en route at Sapporo Clock Tower, one of Sapporo's iconic landmarks located near Odori Park.
