Enjoy a bus journey from Sapporo along the Sea of Japan coast to the Shakotan area. Explore Otaru, then visit a sweets theme park on the way back! This is an indulgent itinerary that can be enjoyed precisely because it is a bus tour. The first destination is Cape Kamui, located at the northwestern tip of the Shakotan Peninsula. The tour also stops at the roadside station Space Apple Yoichi for a break along the way, which is another highlight. Apple pie made with apples from Yoichi and creamy soft-serve ice cream are especially popular. Enjoy them as a treat during your journey. After arriving at Cape Kamui, enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time for sightseeing. A well-maintained 770 m walking path leads to the tip of the cape, so please wear comfortable walking clothes and take a stroll. In early summer, bright yellow Ezo daylilies bloom beautifully along the path. From the tip of the cape, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the open sea and the gently curved horizon! After enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Shakotan, get off at Otaru Canal Terminal and explore the city of Otaru at your leisure! Tourist attractions such as Otaru Canal, Denuki Koji, and Sakaimachi Street are scattered throughout the surrounding area, so we recommend deciding in advance which places to visit and where to enjoy a meal. On the way back to Sapporo, the bus stops at the sweets theme park Shiroi Koibito Park for sightseeing and shopping*. Highlights include an English garden filled with approximately 200 roses and seasonal flowers, as well as a mechanical clock tower where animal automata perform a cheerful parade every hour on the hour. *Sightseeing in the paid area is optional.
