Hokkaido Sightseeing Bus: Hokuryu Sunflower Village & Shikisai no Oka

Hokuryu Town Sunflower Village is one of Japan's largest sunflower fields, covering approximately 23 hectares and featuring around 2 million sunflowers. During the month-long Sunflower Festival, held from July 20 to August 18 when the flowers are in full bloom, visitors can enjoy a giant sunflower maze, sightseeing guides, and daily events. This tour operates during the festival period, so be sure to check the event schedule in advance before joining! Before stopping at the Sunflower Village, the tour takes a break at Sunagawa Highway Oasis. This is truly an oasis on the expressway, bringing together the best specialties from the Nak Sorachi area! The special light meal box from Sunagawa Highway Oasis features local favorites such as croquettes made with Jinnai Wagyu, a branded beef, and Akabira Hot Leg, a regional specialty from Akabira Town. Enjoy these local treats while taking in the sunflowers! On the way from Hokuryu Town to Biei Town, view the Patchwork Road and the Seven Stars Tree from the bus window. The tour then stops at Hokusei-no-Oka Observatory Park, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the Daisetsuzan mountain range and the surrounding hills. Be ready to take photos during your break! The final stop, Shikisai no Oka, is home to more than 30 varieties of flowers, which bloom in succession from May through late October. The peak season is from late July to late September. The sight of the gentle slopes transformed into a colorful patchwork is truly breathtaking! We also recommend taking a 15-minute ride around the grounds on the tractor bus Shikisai Norokko-go.
