Head to the Furano area, where lavender fills the air with a fresh, soothing fragrance! A delightful journey through flower fields Located almost at the center of Hokkaido, the Furano area is also known as “the navel of Hokkaido.” When summer arrives, colorful flowers bloom across this photogenic region. Above all, Furano is famous for its lavender fields! This course visits some of the Furano area’s most iconic lavender spots, allowing you to fully enjoy the purple hues of early summer. The first stop after departing from Sapporo Station is Highland Furano, a nature-rich hot spring accommodation facility surrounded by lavender fields. Walking trails are available, allowing you to enjoy forest bathing and observe wildflowers and wild birds. Lunch here includes a petit fondue made with Furano cheese and a Kamifurano pork hamburger steak set. Enjoy a menu featuring carefully selected local ingredients. Next, visit Campana Rokkatei, a shop operated by the popular confectionery maker Rokkatei. This scenic spot is perched on a hill, and its glass-walled interior offers sweeping views of the Daisetsuzan Range and the surrounding hills. Enjoy shopping amid spectacular scenery, and be sure to look out for classic products such as Marusei Butter Sand, the limited-edition Furano Mochi, and the gallery on the premises. In the latter half of the journey, visit Farm Tomita, a sightseeing farm with approximately 70 years of history, and Lavender East, one of Japan’s largest lavender gardens, managed by Farm Tomita. Lavender East is home to lavender planted across an expansive 14ha site, creating a landscape that looks as though it is covered in a purple carpet. Farm Tomita has 14 flower fields, where you can admire not only lavender but also charming flowers that bloom in every season. There are also shops at both Lavender East and Farm Tomita, where you can purchase original products made with lavender. Don’t miss the Lavender White Chocolate Soft-Serve Ice Cream, available exclusively at Lavender East, as well as lavender items such as lavender oil and soap! Lavender blooms across the gentle slopes of vast, rolling hills. Why not take a regular sightseeing bus to experience the grand-scale scenery found only in Hokkaido?
