Built in 1906 in a modern European revival style, this building is both a component cultural property of Japan Heritage and a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan. Its luxurious interior features finely crafted details, including column designs, wallpaper, and ceiling decorations, telling the story of Otaru's prosperity in days gone by. ※The building is closed every Tuesday and on September 24, so it will not be visited. The Otaru walking portion will instead last approximately three hours. After visiting the historic building, get off at Otaru Canal Terminal and enjoy free time exploring Otaru!
